Implementation of Electronic Trademark Registration Certificates in Taiwan

To reduce the cost of paper printing and delivery and the impact on the environment, Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) has promoted electronic trademark registration certificates starting from January 3, 2023 to pursue a sustainable development goal of energy conservation and carbon reduction.

After the new rule is implemented, the applicants may still decide to obtain the paper registration certificates if need, within the 2-month stipulated period of registration fee.  TIPO has yet decided the timetable for the full electronicization of trademark registration certificates, which will be announced separately.

The official fee of obtaining the paper or electronic registration certificates is the same.  However, in consideration of the effects of mailing services caused by COVID-19 in the last two years, receipt of the electronic trademark registration certificates seems to be the ideal choice.
